Register a new dog

If you have a new dog or have recently moved to Wellington, you'll need to register it with Wellington City Council.

Re-register your dog

You can re-register and pay for one or multiple dogs online. Dogs must be re-registered with us by 1 July every year.

Dog tag replacement

Your dog must wear a registration tag at all times. If you need a replacement, you can get a new one.

If your dog dies

Let us know if your dog dies so we can update our register. You can request a refund of the dog registration fee.

Update your dog ownership details

Let us know if your dog’s situation has changed, such as a change of ownership, if you’ve moved away from Wellington, or your contact details have changed.
