Classes for school-aged children include gymnastics, skateboarding, diving, swimming, fencing and ball sports.

Basketball clinic

This basketball clinic focuses on basic skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing and defence. Ideal for children aged 7 to 12 years.

A fun-filled, creative and engaging class which focuses on exploring the foundations of artistic gymnastics, while introducing gymnastics skills and movements on all four apparatus (vault, bar, beam and floor). This class is a great way to build coordination, flexibility, and strength – skills that are transferable to any sport.

Kiwi Gym Fun

Learn and develop the basic gymnastic skill of balance, locomotions, rotation, springs and landings, as the children work towards earning badges and certificates in this nationally recognised Kiwi Gym Fun programme.

Parkour is a movement discipline that helps develop skills and techniques useful for finding new routes through the urban environment, but its mainly used as a form of recreation, much like skateboarding. These classes are fun and challenging and help kids develop and improve their balance, strength and confidence with a strong focus on safety.

Parkour advanced

Lead by a parkour instructor with over 10 years' experience, this class takes you over, under, around and through your environment. It focuses on how to move safely and confidently, and participants will leave the class with a bunch of awesome skills. If you're 12 years or older, or have been in some of the other Parkour classes at KIRC, this is the class for you.

Rollerblade or rollerskate

The programme offers students an introduction to the basics of rollerblading or rollerskating through fun and innovative skating games and drills. Students will learn a range of important skills including stopping, turning, gliding, backwards skating, going down ramps, and falling safely. Aimed at kids aged 5–13 years.

Junior Roller Derby

This is for those who have basic roller skating skills and want to take it to the next level. You will learn a variety of new skills to use in the sport of Junior Roller Derby. This is a low contact sport where teams compete for points earned through speed, agility and strategy. You will be coached by Julia Bromley (from team NZ) and other guest coaches. We provide safe, fun and exciting classes in which students will have the opportunity to hold a public bout (game) on completion of the course. Aimed at ages 8 to 16.

Beginners learn and develop basic skateboarding skills, including skateboard maintenance and basic tricks. Intermediate beginners build on skills learnt in beginners class, including more technical tricks and how to use ramps and obstacles. All protective equipment provided free of charge. Skateboards are not provided. Bookings required.

ASB Sports Centre - School Age Programmes

Springboard diving

Teaches the necessary safety skills and goes on to progressively develop diving ability.

Beginners diving builds body control and awareness before developing basic skills using the 1-meter springboard. Intermediate diving progresses to advanced movements using the 1-metre and 3-meter springboards. Advanced diving prepares for club diving and competition.

Squash skillz

Join us in the squash court for a fun programme to learn the basics of squash. Improve your racquet skills, hand-eye coordination and fitness. Please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear − racquets and equipment provided.
