Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre

This facility in Kilbirnie has a 50-metre heated indoor pool, diving pool, toddlers’ pool and spray water-play area, programmes pool, hydrotherapy pool, gym, spas and saunas.

COVID-19 update – Alert Level 2

Contact tracing is a requirement at all our facilities at Level 2. Customers can either use the NZ COVID Tracer app or alternatively we will collect your details at reception. Existing members details will be collected via our normal bookings and membership system.

Classes

  • SwimWell classes and club swimming are running as per normal. Please continue to check our Facebook page and website for more updates.  
  • Please limit the number of people coming to the pools, ideally one spectator per swimmer.  

Facilities  

  • There will be times when some pools are closed for recreational swimming to maintain facility limits where existing bookings, SwimWell classes and/or club swimming are scheduled.  Please check our website or Facebook pages for more information. 
  • Cash will be accepted, but contactless payment is highly recommended.  
  • Saunas and steam rooms will be closed under Level 2.  
  • Larger spas at Karori pool and Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre will continue to operate but numbers will be limited to ensure physical distancing.   
  • Spas at the other pools are closed.   
  • Drinking fountains will be available for bottle filling only.  

Staying safe  

  • Please keep at least 1m physical distancing when you’re in the facility.  
  • We will have an increased cleaning routine to help ensure your health and safety.  
  • Please get changed/showered at home and only use changing rooms if you really need to.  
  • If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or contact your local GP for advice.  

Main pool closure

We’re doing our scheduled five yearly maintenance work at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC). This means the main pool will be closed from 5 July 2021 to early September. The hydrotherapy, spray pools and ClubActive will remain open during this time.

Spa pool

  • 3 x spa pools (36–38°C)
  • You must be 5 years or older to use the spa pool
  • Children must be supervised by an adult or caregiver over the age of 16

Sauna

  • 2 x saunas – one for men, one for women
  • You must be 16 years or older to use the sauna

  • 2 x with height-adjustable shower change tables
  • 5 × accessible (located by the pool)
  • 1 x installed with hoist that can access the pool (max. weight 220kg)

Club Active Gym

Join Club Active Gym for access to our fully equipped gym, including cardio and weights machines, cables, free weights and stretch areas. We also offer group fitness classes for Club Active members and non-members.
