The proposed concept plan includes:

  • an inclusive carousel
  • a lillypad swing
  • belt swings
  • a seesaw
  • basket swings
  • picnic tables
  • a straight slide.

The Wadestown Park play area is considered a community play area. This type of area aims to keep children and youth entertained for at least an hour, with play opportunities for a range of age groups.

This area is for neighbourhood and local community within an 800–metre walking distance, which is ideally in community parks or near neighbourhood centres.

You can read more about Wellington City Council’s strategic vision and planning for play areas in Wellington in the Play Spaces Policy (2017).
