Wellington City is divided into 6 wards that elect a total of 15 councillors. See maps and suburbs of Wellington's wards and community boards.

Elected members per ward

The number of councillors for each ward is determined by the estimated resident population of each ward and the total population of the city as a whole.

The list includes:

  • 1 mayor, who is elected by all the city's voters
  • 1 councillor for Te Whanganui-a-Tara Māori Ward
  • 3 councillors for Takapū/Northern General Ward
  • 3 councillors for Wharangi/Onslow-Western General Ward
  • 3 councillors for Pukehīnau/Lambton General Ward
  • 3 councillors for Motukairangi/Eastern General Ward
  • 2 councillors for Paekawakawa/Southern General Ward.
