Networks, support groups and communities

Our networks, support groups and communities are an important part of how we connect, embrace and celebrate the diversity of kaimahi at the Council.

By joining a network, support group or community, you'll get to know your peers while sharing experiences or focusing on important issues and topics of interest. You’ll be part of a supportive group of people working together to help make the Council a safe and inclusive organisation where we can be our authentic selves.

If there is something missing, we'll help you set up a network or support group.

Employee-led networks

Climate Action Champions

A network of people championing climate action – working hard to create change by looking at how the Council operates and how the city functions and develops.

Kaimahi Māori

Kaimahi Māori from across the Council come together on a regular basis to celebrate te ao Māori, support one another in their mahi, and build connections within the organisation.

Neurodiverse Network

An inclusive space for Neurodiverse kaimahi and their colleagues to gather for support, development, and to share their stories.

Queer at Council

An awesome bunch of quirky queers helping to build connections while advocating for a rainbow-friendly Council.

Women's Network

A community that meets to mentor, support, and celebrate people who identify as women at the Council in a safe, inclusive, and collaborative space.

Young Professionals Network

The aim of this network is to help create a connected Council by building the confidence of young professionals through a series of workshops and events. This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with peers.

Employee groups

Book Club

Our book club meets informally once a month to talk about books, authors and book releases. They also discuss research, and articles they have found in the Council's corporate library.

Christian Fellowship

A group that meets to share a word from the Bible and pray for needs in the Council and the community.

Cancer Support Group

A place for anyone affected by cancer to come together. It's a space to share experiences and information, and give and receive emotional support, in a safe and caring environment.

Me Heke ki Pōneke – the Wellington City Council Waiata Rōpū

Our rōpū comes together for waiata, karakia, and to practice te reo Māori. The rōpū supports the Council at special events and performs at cultural occasions.
