Owner responsibilities

Dog owners must meet certain responsibilities such as controlling and cleaning up after your dog. Dog training courses and desexing your dog can also benefit you and the wider community.

Free microchipping for your pups or dogs this November!

No appointment needed, just go to:

Animal Services Shelter – 73 Moa Point Road, Moa Point, Wellington

  • Monday to Friday, 3pm–4.30pm
  • Saturday, 10am–11am

Animal Services Centre – 21 Meachen Street, Seaview, Petone

  • Monday to Friday, 8am–9am, 12 noon–1pm or 4–5pm
  • Saturday, 12 noon–1pm

Microchipping is a simple procedure in which a microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is implanted under the skin behind your dog’s neck. The chip is assigned a number that helps identify your dog if it goes missing.
