Citizenship ceremonies

New Zealand citizenship ceremonies are held every month.

COVID-19 update – Alert Level 2

All citizenship ceremonies are on hold until further notice.

We are following advice from the Ministry of Health and Department of Internal Affairs to postpone large gatherings. If you have been approved for a grant of citizenship, the Citizenship Office will send you citizenship certificate by courier post.

The ceremonies are officiated by the Mayor or Deputy Mayor and run from 6pm to 7.30pm, with candidates and guests required to be seated by 5.30pm. Once the ceremony begins, no one is allowed entry. Light refreshments follow the ceremony.
