Hydrotherapy pool

Enjoy the state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

Exercise and rehabilitate in our hydrotherapy pool

Our pool has:

  • a temperature of 32–34°C
  • a walk-in/wheelchair access ramp
  • accessible facilities
  • privacy
  • limited equipment available for use, such as noodles and aqua floats
  • a lifeguard present at all times.

Hydrotherapy involves the use of warm water for pain relief and a range of treatments. Long recognised as a gentle and effective aid, it can help:

  • give relief from joint pain and conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis
  • with rehabilitation after injury, bone fractures and joint replacement
  • improve flexibility, balance, and coordination
  • improve general fitness and strengthen muscles
  • with neurological disorders such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

Hydrotherapy classes

Hydro Motion is designed for those living with health conditions that may limit movement.

This gentle group fitness class uses very low-intensity movements that will help you increase mobility, strength, flexibility, coordination and fitness.

Class times

  • 12 noon–12.45pm and 1pm–1.45pm on Wednesdays
  • 11am–11.45am and 12 noon–12.45pm on Fridays

Private hire

To hire the hydrotherapy pool, phone the booking coordinator on 021 227 8355.

Bookings will include the time required to use the changing rooms and enter/exit the pool.
