As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Darren HOSKINS, Chris RENNER, Wayne RUDD and Hamish TODD are elected unopposed. A by-election to fill the two remaining vacancies will be held after the triennial elections have been finalised.
Māori Ward Poll – Wellington City Council
A poll will be held in conjunction with the above elections to confirm whether Wellington City Council electors wish to keep or remove the Māori Ward as part of Wellington City Council’s representation structure. The outcome of the poll is binding and will determine whether a Māori Ward will be retained for the Wellington City Council elections in 2028 and 2031. The First Past the Post (FPP) Electoral System will be used for this poll.
Enrolment and Special Voting Arrangements
Wellington City Council residential electors who are not listed on the final electoral roll for these elections can enrol up to 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025 by calling 0800 36 76 56, visiting the Electoral Commission website www.vote.nz, by texting your name and address to 3676 to get a form sent to you or by email request to enquiries@elections.govt.nz.
Wellington City Council ratepayers who are not listed on the final electoral roll for these elections can obtain an enrolment form from the Te Awe Library, 29 Brandon Street, Wellington and enrol up to 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025. Online applications for ratepayer elector registration can also be made at www.electionz.com/ratepayer.
Special voting documents will be available during the voting period (Tuesday 9 September to 12 noon, Saturday 11 October 2025) at Te Awe Library election hub, 29 Brandon Street, Wellington. Election hub opening hours during the voting period:
- 9.30am–5.30pm, Monday–Friday
- 9.30am–5pm, Saturday 4 October 2025
- 9.30am–12 noon, Saturday 11 October 2025
