As we get closer to the reopening of Te Matapihi Central Library and Te Ngākau Civic Square in March 2026, we’re coordinating all the Wellington City Council, Wellington Water, and utility companies streetworks projects in the area. By getting all these projects done at once, we’ll all be able to enjoy the return of Te Matapihi and Te Ngākau without disruption.
Approaching these projects in a coordinated way means we can:
- find efficiencies through shared spaces and resources
- speed up the work overall
- reduce the need to come back to this area in the future
- co-ordinate all the communication to make it easier for nearby residents and businesses to know what’s going on.
This page will be kept up to date with the latest information on the streetworks and any impacts on residents and businesses.
