Huetepara Park, Lyall Bay

A Lyall Bay community group is working with the Council and mana whenua to build an amenity park.

The park will be located at the Eastern end of Lyall Bay, by Surfers corner.

The design includes:

  • a viewing platform
  • a raised deck with an accessible toilet and open showers
  • a raised boardwalk adjacent to the footpath
  • a skate half pipe and a sealed pump track
  • picnic tables and seats and a site for a coffee cart.

For more information, visit Huetepara Park website.

Timeline

The construction is estimated to start mid to late 2025.

The construction was due to start in March 2024, however it's delayed due to the replacement of concrete walls on Wellington International Airport Ltd buildings on neighbouring land.

The project delivery will be staged based on available funding.

Background

The Council was approached by a group of passionate Lyall Bay locals with the vision to convert a piece of road reserve into an amenity park. The proposal was supported by the Council for funding and delivery.
