Horokiwi Road reinforced soil embankment

We're remediating the slip undermining Horokiwi Road, just north of the Horokiwi Quarry entrance.

About the project

This remediation work involves:

  • construction of a geogrid reinforced soil embankment to stabilise the slope
  • reinstatement of the pavement above it
  • installation of sight rails
  • associated works.

The slope remediation works will ensure that Horokiwi Road is safer and more resilient to road users and pedestrians.

These works are set to begin on Monday 27 May 2024 and are planned for completion in September 2024.

The Council has contracted HEB Construction Ltd to do this work.

Traffic management

Horokiwi Road will have a traffic lane closure for the duration of the contract. The road will remain open for resident access to properties, including vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians at all times.

The road will be reduced to a single lane under a reduced speed limit 24/7. Residents may need to wait to be escorted past the site during work hours when required.
