2023 Tawa Community Board by-election

A by-election will be held to fill one vacancy on the Tawa Community Board.

The vacancy is a result of Janryll Fernandez resigning.

Nominations

Nominations for the position open on Thursday 25 May 2023 and must be made on the official nomination form.

Candidates must be nominated by two Tawa residents, but don’t need to live in Tawa themselves.

Completed nomination documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon, Thursday 22 June 2023. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by online banking or cash.

Candidates are encouraged to also submit a candidate profile statement and recent colour photograph. The requirements for the profile statement and the photo are set out in the candidate handbook.

Election details

If an election is required to fill this vacancy, the election will be conducted by postal voting under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) electoral system. Candidate names will be listed in random order on the voting papers. 

The voting papers will be mailed out to electors on Thursday 27 July 2023 and voting will close at 12 noon, Friday 18 August 2023.

Updates to the preliminary electoral roll close at 4pm on Thursday 22 June 2023.
