Flexible working

Find out about the types of flexible working.

Flexible working at the Council is about working within guidelines for a task but without boundaries for how you achieve it. It's about understanding different work styles. And being open to whatever creates a balanced, motivated, innovative, and productive team.

We offer four types of flexible working:

  • Flexi-role – providing more flexibility in roles, such as part-time hours, job-sharing, and phased out or in (for retirement, injury or return from parental leave).
  • Flexi-schedule – building more flexibility into the days and hours that kaimahi (staff/employees) work. For example, flexible working hours, staggered start and finish times, and compressed work weeks.
  • Flexi-place – offering choices for kaimahi about where they work. For example, remote working and share-desking.
  • Flexi-leave – providing a range of leave that caters to different people and lifestyles. Examples include sick leave and study leave.

I can work from home two days a week which makes a massive difference to my work life balance and quality of life, cutting down on commuting time and cost.
