Residents Monitoring Survey

See what a sample of Wellington City residents think in our Residents Monitoring Survey results.

The Council gathers feedback from Wellington City residents through its annual Residents Monitoring Survey.

The survey asks a representative sample of residents about their engagement and satisfaction with the Council’s services and facilities, as well as Council Controlled Organisations. The survey also asks residents about their behaviours and overall perceptions of Wellington.

These findings form part of our annual reporting framework including a range of key performance indicators. You can see how they are incorporated into our annual reports.

2025 survey

The 2025 survey took place in two parts. The final sample size was:

  • 1,088 for part one
  • 1,174 for part two.

It had a margin of error around 3% for the Wellington City population. The samples were post-weighted to be representative of Wellington City residents by age, gender, and ward.
