Mobility parking

Mobility parking in the city and how to apply for a permit - or complain about illegal parking.

Mobility parking permits

Mobility parking permits allow you to park in a Council-owned car park (excluding parking buildings) for longer than the time restriction. This recognises the extra time needed to go to and from destinations. With a mobility card you can park for:

  • 1 hour over any time restriction of 30 minutes or longer
  • 1 hour over the time you've paid for.

Note: Normal parking charges still apply.

You need to clearly display your mobility parking permit on the dashboard of your vehicle.

Types of permit that can be used include:

Eligibility criteria

You can apply for a permit if you:

  • are unable to walk
  • rely on a wheelchair or other mobility device
  • cannot walk 200m without help.

Apply for a permit

You can apply for a Mobility Parking Permit by contacting CCS Disability Action New Zealand on 0800 227 2255.
