The Total Mobility scheme provides subsidised door-to-door transport services for people who have a permanent disability and cannot use public transport. It is run by the Greater Wellington Regional Council.

City mobility fleet
You can get around Wellington with ease using a free beach wheelchair or City Mobility Scooter to explore the central city and waterfront.
We’ve got a beach wheelchair available for use and you can borrow it for a full day from Freyberg pool, 139 Oriental Parade. It's free of charge, and you can use it to travel on the sand and in the water at Oriental Bay.

Free mobility scooters available
City Mobility is a Wellington City Council and TSB Bank project providing free mobility scooters to help people get around and enjoy Wellington city.
The scooters are safe and easy to use. Trained staff will show you how. The scooters are available to anyone aged 18 years or over who has limited mobility, from wheelchair users to the elderly. You're even eligible with a broken leg.
Scooter use is free. No payment is required, you just need to show some form of ID. You can book a scooter for up to 4 hours. Advance bookings are recommended.
