Five of our apprentice gardeners created Hidden Gardens across Pōneke for our Hidden Gardens campaign.

Hidden Gardens has now wrapped up. We look forward to bringing you this campaign again in 2025.

About the Apprenticeship

The horticulture apprenticeship is a 3 year programme where you complete a NZ Certificate in Horticulture (level 4) - Amenity.

The apprentices each spend four months rotating around Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush, Wellington Botanic Garden, Berhampore Nursery, and the Horticulture team during the different seasons. They learn from experienced staff and trainers what it takes to look after all of our beautiful gardens and parks in Wellington.
