Rates for 2025/2026 (1.16MB PDF) | Text version (622KB RTF)
Rates are based on your property's capital value, land use and whether it receives targeted rates or is non-rateable.
This year's rates are based on the property revaluation as at 1 September 2024. This revaluation remains effective for the 2025/2026 rating year, except where subsequent maintenance valuations have been required under valuation rules or the Council’s rating policies. City-wide revaluations are performed every three years.
Changes to rateable value of Wellington properties has impacted the share of rates that each property pays.
Overall, the increase in rates is 10.6%, but some properties will have increases higher than the 10.6%, or a reduction.
