The Council has a number of ongoing projects to manage our own earthquake-prone buildings and monitor building earthquake resilience in the Wellington region.

We’ve collaborated with Victoria University of Wellington to consider what a resilient city might look like.
We work with and support a range of initiatives that research issues around earthquakes, buildings, and resilience.
Following the Christchurch earthquake we’ve been working with owners to identify these buildings and their risks.
In 2017-2018 we worked proactively with owners of URM buildings to carry out targeted strengthening.
