Get together with friends, whānau and fellow Wellingtonians for New Year’s Eve 2023! Whairepo Lagoon is once again the place to be on Sunday 31 December.

There will be live music to groove to, with Zephyr starting the party at 8pm, followed by a Kids Countdown and short burst of fireworks at 9.30pm for the little ones who don’t want to miss out.

From 10pm, Orchestra Wellington will take to the stage with a theme of movie music, until it’s time to count down for real! The night and the year will end with a bang, with a three-minute Fireworks Display at midnight.

There will also be a small selection of food trucks in Odlin’s Plaza.

For wet weather and event updates visit the Council Facebook event page.

There will be no postponement date if the event cannot go ahead on 31 December 2023.

Parking is limited. We encourage you to walk, bike or catch the bus to the city to celebrate the new year.
