We want the Wellington City Councillors and Mayor to reject the spatial plan proposal and retain the pre-1930s demolition rule for all of Mount Victoria.
Background information
The WCC's spatial plan proposes to remove the pre-1930s demolition rule for Mt Vic houses outside new character sub-areas.
The rule was established to help protect the character of the suburb as it is important to the heritage of Wellington.
Increasing the supply of affordable housing can be achieved without allowing huge, out-of-character developments in sensitive areas. Let’s maximise housing in industrial areas of Te Aro before compromising the unique character of Mt Vic.
