Reduce light aircraft traffic hovering Wellington

Petition details

Noflyzone is asking for the Wellington City Council to stand for the communities impacted by the noise of recreational aircraft by implementing a complete ban of fly-over residential areas as well as a mechanism to ensure light aircraft can't circle around the Miramar peninsula (or any residential zone for that matter).

Background information

Recreational aircraft flying low over Wellington are an unnecessary pollution. For the benefits of a handful, the Eastern suburbs are enduring frequent flyovers. Flying at low altitude, they create constant buzz. Circling over the harbour, these planes destroy the soundscape of thousands of residents (especially those at the vertical of the corridor) and outdoors lovers. The planes fly away, but the noise keeps being heard tens of kilometers around, for long period of times.
