Seniors' Week is held in October every year and involves events for seniors.
Te Wiki Kaumātua Seniors' Week 2019 will be held 14–20 October and is a week of community events and activities planned with older residents in mind, which aims to build connections and reduce social isolation in later life.
Last year there were over 50 events happening right across the city – most of which were free or discounted for SuperGold Card holders – and we want to make this year even bigger and better.
Our theme for this year is Whakapiri Mai – Connect. We are now taking registrations for events, so complete the Event Information form below and we will compile and publish them all in the Seniors' Week booklet, to be distributed across the City. We will also list all of the events on EventFinda for you. If we need an image, we'll get in touch.
Please note, the closing date for registrations is 1st September 2019.
You can find a list of last year's events in the full 2018 programme.

Senior Regional Games
2019 marks the first ever Senior Regional Games in Wellington. This exciting new event is the result of collaboration between the three regional councils and Sport Wellington, and is all about encouraging active aging and social connection in the wider Wellington Community.
Gold Card holders are encouraged to join our Activate classes and get practising. The Activate community have a strong sense of fun with regular social events, and this year will be participating at the inaugural Senior Regional Games.
The competition will kick off on Tuesday 1 October with an Activate bus departing from Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre to take participants to the Lower Hutt Events Centre. After the games, participants will be invited to celebrate their successes and enjoy some refreshments at the Dowse Art Museum.
