Pacific Island communities

We have a number of initiatives designed to support and develop Pacific communities.

Pacific forums

The Mayor regularly hosts a forum for the Pacific communities of Wellington. As well as the Mayor, the forum is attended by Councillors, the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Management and other Council staff.

Past forums have covered topics such as alcohol management, seniors, youth and leadership.

Pacific Advisory Group

The Pacific Advisory Group, set up in December 2003, is a link between the Council and Wellington's Pacific communities. It is designed to have representatives from Wellington's seven main Pacific nation groups - Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga and Tuvalu.
