This funding is administered by Council and is from Creative New Zealand (CNZ), we have $130,000 to allocate through two funding rounds each year our funding calendar has more details. We have an additional $33,000 to allocate in the funding round that closes at the end of February 2021. Please note that around 70% of CNZ’s income (and this funding) comes from proceeds of the New Zealand Lottery. Information about past allocations (308KB PDF) is also available.
Criteria
Projects seeking funding from this scheme should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Participation – the project creates opportunities for local communities to engage with, and participate in local arts activities.
- Diversity – the project supports the diverse artistic and cultural traditions of local communities.
- Young people – the project enables and encourages young people (under 18 years) to engage with and participate in the arts.
To be eligible for funding, projects must take place within the Wellington city rate-paying area (includes Tawa, but not Lower and Upper Hutt or Porirua). Projects already receiving Creative New Zealand funding are not eligible. Contact a Funding Advisor if you intend to apply to the Creative Communities Scheme and any CreativeNZ fund.
