For your holiday season shopping, enjoy all that the creative capital has to offer. Check out our tips on where to shop and how to travel around the city.

From independent, local arts and crafts, through to boutiques with local and international designers, to quirky book and gift stores.

Wander Lambton Quay's Golden Mile to the boutiques in the Old Bank Arcade, along Willis Street to enjoy NZ and international designers, to the vintage stores on Cuba Street, and independent design and fashion stores of Ghuznee Street and beyond. Wellington has something for everyone.

Tips for travelling into Wellington:

  • Using Snapper, Metlink buses and trains offer free travel for children 12 and under.
  • Why not try out the new cycle lanes into the city?
  • If you do need to take a car, why not shop with friends and car-pool? Wellington has over 2,200 metered car parks in the central city. On the weekend you can park your car for $3 per hour, for up to three hours in most inner-city parks.
  • Clifton Street and Tory Street car parks are available with a weekend and public holiday maximum of $8 for all-day parking. Both are a three-minute walk to nearby shopping areas.
