Learn water safety skills for life with SwimWell

With your little (and not so little) ones heading back to school, this could be the perfect time to think about extra-curricular activities to keep them busy during the term.

Our SwimWell programme offers year-round affordable swimming lessons for children aged 5 months to 14 years, no matter what level they’re at. They’ll gain confidence, make friends and learn water safety skills for life.

Lessons run during the school term and are priced from just $10.80, with LeisureCard holders eligible for a 20 percent discount.

Y
our child can join a class at any time of the year, and while enrolled in the SwimWell programme, they can swim at all of our pools for free. Some pools also have toddlers' pools, spas, and saunas!

We have four indoor heated pools to choose from; Karori Pool, Keith Spry Pool in Johnsonville, Tawa Pool, and Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

Karori has a 25-metre heated indoor pool, learners' pool, teaching pool, toddlers' pool, and a spa pool.

Johnsonville's Keith Spry Pool has a 25-metre heated indoor pool, a diving pool, toddlers' and children's play pool, spa, and sauna. (Please note the main pool is currently closed for an upgrade, but lessons will be diverted to Tawa or Thorndon until it reopens in April.)

Tawa Pool has a 25-metre heated indoor pool, learners' pool, toddlers' pool, spa and sauna. The awesome team here are currently offering NZSL lessons on Saturday mornings for children who are deaf or have hearing loss. They also offer lessons in te reo Māori for Little Dipper and Big Dippers.

Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC) in Kilbirnie has a 50-metre heated indoor pool, diving pool, toddlers’ pool and spray water-play area, programmes pool, hydrotherapy pool, gym, spas and saunas.

We also offer week-long intensive courses during the holidays, and swimming lessons for adults.

Our aim is to teach your child the skills to be safe while becoming confident and independent in the water. If you’re not sure what level they’re at, you can book them in for a free swim test.
