Friday Five: Your super Wellington weekend

Welly-geddon hits this weekend with a range of exciting activities to get your pop culture, games, comics, cosplay and animation fix! Here are five things to check out.

1. Head to Armageddon at Sky Stadium

This annual entertainment event showcases some of the greatest pop culture names in comics, movies, television, animation and gaming. On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April, you can meet up and socialise with fellow fans, meet international media stars, voice actors and comic creators, try your hand at the latest games, participate in the famous Armageddon cosplay contest or pick up all the latest merchandise.

2. Visit Marvel: Earth’s mightiest exhibition

Celebrate and explore Marvel’s 80-year history, with a behind-the-scenes look at some of Marvel’s most iconic characters at Tākina. This exhibition is on now until Sunday 28 April, so don't miss out! For more information, visit the Wellington NZ website.

3. Join the superhero scavenger hunt

Embark on an exhilarating scavenger hunt adventure around the vibrant Courtenay Precinct! Each team or individual will navigate through various checkpoints, each offering a distinct challenge ranging from trivia questions that test your knowledge, to creative photo and video tasks that encourage you to engage with the surroundings in imaginative ways.

Whether you're striking a pose with iconic landmarks, interacting with local artworks, or capturing the vibrant street life, there won't be a dull moment.

4. Visit the mighty Thor hammer 

 Are you worthy enough to wield this larger-than-life Thor hammer? Why not head to Whairepo Lagoon to check out the hammer before it leaves Wellington on Sunday 28 April.

5. Join the Armageddon after party

Head to the Courtenay Place precinct on Saturday 6 April in your best dressed cosplay to be a part of the Armageddon after party! From 6pm, there will be amazing street DJ performers, circus buskers, giveaways and more! For more details, visit the Facebook event
