Our last WellyWalk offers stunning views of Wellington Harbour and the tranquillity of the regenerating and old growth native forest in Gilberd Bush Reserve.
Te Ara Paparārangi and Te Ara Paparāngi ki te Tonga are two tracks that make up a 4.6km walk along the Harbour Escarpment between Waihinahina Park and Promontory Crescent in Newlands.
To begin this #WellyWalk, and to track down the treat box, head to Waihinahina Park and walk through the dog exercise area to the start of the track. The walkway entrance is sign-posted and begins near the south end of the dog exercise area.
The walk is a good grade and not difficult, so is suitable for those of average fitness and all ages. There are no steps so this walk is buggy friendly, although be aware there are some steeper sections on the old section of track.
This is a 4.5 kilometre walk, taking 1-2 hours to complete. Various access points from suburban streets allow you to complete the walkway in stages if you choose.
