Delivery of free recycling bags starts in the capital

Wellington City Council will be delivering free packs of recycling bags to households all over the capital from today (Friday 1 April) – and it’s no joke.

If you live outside the city centre, and you don’t have a wheelie bin, you will receive the yearly delivery of 52 recycling bags.

Delivery of the recycling bags to over 26,000 homes is expected to take about four months to be completed.

If residents who meet the criteria haven’t received their bags after that date they have until the end of August to contact us on 499 4444 or info@wcc.govt.nz to lodge a complaint to be reviewed.

If throughout the year residents run out and need more recycling bags they can be bought from the Council Service Centre in Manners Street, and Johnsonville, Kilbirnie, Newtown or Tawa libraries.
