Friday Five: Things to do when in town for the football

If you’re heading to the footie match this weekend here are some ideas for what else you and the whānau can do while out and about enjoying Pōneke.

1. Put on your game face

Before you leave home make sure you’ve bought your tickets to the game!

The Wellington Phoenix are taking on rivals Western United for their only home game in Wellington of the the 2020-21 season, kicking off at the family friendly time of 4pm.

2. Spend some time with the tamariki 

For some day entertainment why not check out Wellington NZ’s list of fun things to do that kids will love!

3. Winetopia, wine-not? 

If sport isn’t really your thing, celebrate New Zealand wine at Winetopia this Friday 21 and Saturday 22 May at TSB Arena. Enjoy tastings, talks and an incredible line-up of 60 wineries from across Aotearoa.

4. Find a whānau friendly feed

Looking for a kid’s menu and a family friendly place to eat? Our friends at WellingtonNZ have you covered, with their list of child friendly eateries. 

5. Wind down with a walk 

After a big feed why not take a stroll around the beautiful Pōneke waterfront. If the kids still have energy to burn, the Frank Kitts Park and the Waitangi Park play areas are both within walking distance.
