Funding opportunities for the community

Wellington City Council has a range of funding available for community projects that help make the city a better place.

Social and Recreation Fund  

This fund seeks projects that provide evidence in supporting community resilience; improving community safety, wellbeing and connectedness; empowering māori and our diverse communities. Priority will be to be projects that contribute to Pōneke being an inclusive, liveable and resilient city where people and communities can learn and be connected, well housed, safe and healthy.

Fund closes 27 March 2025.  

Tawa Community Fund  

Support for community initiatives in Tawa, Linden, Takapu Valley and Grenada North. $15,000 is available annually for a range of projects that benefit the residents of Tawa. Priority will be given to those activities that help develop and support our economically or socially disadvantaged community.

Fund closes 3 April 2025   

Waste Minimisation Seed Fund (Under $2000) 

Got an innovative solution for reducing waste? A way of re-using waste materials? An idea for recycling recovery? Apply now for small projects under $2000. Priority will be given to those activities that promote avoidance, reduction, reuse and recovery of waste materials. 

Fund closes 31 May 2025.
