Friday Five: Festival line-up this March

From colourful street parties to arts and thrills, and feel good kiwi music – March is going to be full of good vibes with a series of festivals hitting the city! Check out the line-up for this month.

1. Newtown Festival

Aotearoa's biggest and best free music festival and street fair makes a comeback to present the 29th Newtown Festival! Enjoy more than 420 stalls, 150 artists, 1000 performers, 16 stages, activities, and happenings all over Newtown on Sunday 5 March. Bring on the good vibes!

2. Wellington Pride Festival

The Wellington Pride Festival hits the capital with a fortnight of events, activities, and entertainment – and everyone’s invited!

The festival runs until Saturday 18 March but kicks-off its heels with a Hīkoi through town on Saturday 4 March, followed by a gala event that night. During the festival you can get your skates on for a roller disco, dive into a pool party, come Out in the Square, and have a ball at a youth ball.

3. New Zealand Fringe Festival 

The New Zealand Fringe Festival is back with a diverse, electric new programme for 2023, with more than 160 different arts events, and a line-up of award-winning internationals and homegrown talent.

4. Jim Beam Homegrown

Come together and celebrate our country’s musical talent at Homegrown, held on Wellington's wonderful waterfront! The line-up includes some of New Zealand's best bands and DJs from Shapeshifter, Sir Dave Dobyn, Shihad, The Feelers, Gin Wigmore and much more. There’s something for everyone!

5. CubaDupa

The iconic street festival returns this year, bringing a whole new array of out-of-this-world offerings to the heart of Te Whanganui-a-Tara from 25 to 26 March. Don’t miss your chance to witness the Cuba Street precinct come alive with colour, art, music, theatre, dance, food and over 900 artists for one ultimate weekend. CubaDupa is perfect for the whole whānau with something exciting to be discovered around every corner.
