#WellyWalks is back for summer! Every week, we’ll share the walk of the week so you can find out where to go and what treats you can find from local Wellington businesses. Check out where the next walk will be.

The walk has some of the best panoramic views of the city!  You guessed it – it’s the one and only Mount Victoria lookout loop.

Start your walk on Majoribanks Street and head up to the lookout through the historic pines.

Follow the sign-posts to the Mount Victoria lookout, and on your way take a moment to watch the ferries make their way into the harbour or try to spot the different Wellington suburbs.

When you get to the lookout, be sure to check out the information panels, the carved wooden pou, and the Byrd Memorial at the summit. The bronze cannon used to be fired at noon each day between 1877 and 1900 as a time signal.

Also keep an eye out for the delicious treat of the week from local business Tomboy, a cafe in Mount Victoria specialising in cakes! The treat of the week will be freshly baked doughnuts.

If you are looking for other buggy walks, the team at Kilbirnie Recreation centre run free, guided buggy walks around the eastern bays. Head along and meet new friends, enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise! For more information, see their website

Now that you know where to go, keep an eye on Instagram or Facebook to unlock the secret code then head out to the trail above from 9am on Saturday 21 January. Unlock the treat box with the secret code to get your prize!
