The Island Bay Festival started in 1985 and is one of Wellington's longest-running festivals. Showcasing the talent and diversity of the South Coast, this annual two-day summer festival is held every February.

What if the City was a Theatre? is a free city-wide programme of art and performance, curated in collaboration with some of Wellington’s most exciting artists, events, and creative organisations.
Chinese New Year Festival and Fireworks | Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February
Chinese New Year is the most important festival in the Chinese calendar and is often referred to as the Spring Festival. A major holiday in many Asian cultures, Chinese New Year’s Day to welcome in the Year of the Ox falls on 12 February 2021 and Wellington’s Chinese New Year celebrations will take place on the weekend of 13-14 February.
