Friday Five: Things to do when in town for the rugby

If you’re heading to Sky Stadium this weekend to catch the first Hurricanes game of the season, here are some ideas for what else you and the whānau can do while out and about enjoying the capital.

1. Got the little ones with you?

For fun with your family, you could visit one of our parks or green spaces, take the kids to one of our pools, or go and play at Capital E's soundscapes.

2. Enjoy a picnic at one of our gardens and then grab an ice cream

A short walk or drive from the city centre and you can be at one of our beautiful gardens. Why not pack a picnic to take along?

If you like to finish your meal on a sweet note, check out WellingtonNZ’s scoop on the best ice creams in town.

3. Scoot, skate, or crocodile bike around the waterfront

Want to check out the waterfront but are tired of walking? Why not pick up an e-scooter and drop it back at one of our ruru racks. Or how about hiring a crocodile bike so the whole family can take turns pedalling.

4. Now for something cultural

Wellington Museum shares the fascinating stories of our region within the beautiful 1892 heritage building, designed by leading architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. Wellington Museum is open every day from 10am to 5pm.

You can also experience live art, music and entertainment, with both The Performance Arcade and What if the City was a Theatre events continuing this weekend.

5. Or maybe you fancy something wild?

Check out WellingtonNZ’s wild idea adventures if you feel like escaping your routine and reclaiming the weekend with an invigorating, restful, delicious or inspiring time on either side of the rugby game.

- The Hurricanes will take on the Blues at Sky Stadium on Saturday 27 February at 7.05pm.

Watch out each Friday for a list of five fun activities to do, places to explore, or things to discover in our great city.
