From Wednesday 20 January until Friday 12 February (weather dependent), contractors will start resurfacing large sections of Tawa Main Road, extending from near the Tawa highway offramp through to the Porirua/Tawa boundary.
The Council is responsible for providing and maintaining roading assets and facilities for the benefit of the public in Wellington. Main Road Tawa is a key route in the network, and this work represents a significant investment in the area.
- Traffic management will be in place including stop/go traffic, detours in some locations and reduced speed limits.
- Work hours will depend on the location, with some work being carried out at night and other areas during the day.
- Traffic management has been designed with input from the community, businesses, residents and bus operators.
- The work has been divided into six sections – three sections to be carried out during the day and three under night shift.
- Timing and traffic management has been designed to minimise the impact of this work.
