Estimate your building consent fees

This is an estimate of fees for lodging a building consent application only. If your estimate does not cover all fees for the work we have done, before issuing the consent we will invoice you for any outstanding fees.

There may be other factors that may affect this estimate. These include:

• the category and complexity of work you’ve used for your estimate
• the accuracy of your assessment of the project value
• whether you've supplied all the information we need with your application
• any difference in actual inspection hours compared with the original estimate.

Inspection fees

We usually need to do more inspections than those estimated. If this happens, we will charge for the extra inspections at the hourly rate in place when we carried out them.

The charge will also include the in-office work associated with the inspections. You will need to pay for any extra inspection fees before we issue the code compliance certificate.

If you pay more in inspection fees than incurred, we will refund these at the code compliance certificate stage.

We don't accept an application until you have paid the fees. Once you lodge your application, and we have all required information to be able to accept it for processing, we’ll contact you for your payment.

We’ll give you full details of our account and payment information and you’ll have 5 working days to pay. Your application will remain on suspend until we receive payment of the fees. If we don't receive your payment within the 5 days, we'll return your application.

• by cash (at our Service Centre)
• by internet banking
• by credit card via Pay online
• by credit card by calling 04 801 4311
• through Simpli (preferred method for Simpli applications).
