Demand the 2008 Walking & Cycling Policy apply to all WCC roading projects at the planning stages.
During proceedings in the Environment Court: The City is Ours Inc. versus WCC it was revealed the WCC 2008 Walking and Cycling Policy both were not applied to the planning stages of the Golden Mile Plan despite their DM (demand management) status.
Equal opportunities and citizens rights to choose a mode of transport were effectively ignored by the Golden Mile Plan. The Greater Wellington Regional Council is equally to blame for funding the bus-only lane in Manners Street banning all other transport modes except pedestrians. When bus-priority was given, other transport modes like cyclist and pedestrians were victimized. The road being a ratepayers resource should be shared equally instead of being monopolized by private bus companies.
