Geordie Rogers was elected to represent the Pukehīnau/Lambton ward during the 2024 by-election.
Geordie moved to Pōneke to study Computer Science at Te Herenga Waka in 2017, moving between Te Aro, Thorndon, the Aro Valley, and Island Bay. Since graduating Geordie has worked within the tech sector as a mentor and program manager for the non-profit Summer of Tech while working for both national and international telecommunications companies.
Geordie joined Renters United, a national advocacy group for renters, in 2020 and served as the President from 2022. In his role he worked with members of the Wellington City Council to pilot Aotearoa’s first rental inspection program to lift the standard of rental housing in Pōneke.
Geordie is also a proud supporter of the Living Wage Movement, has served on the board of the Aotearoa Tech Union, and been a proud volunteer of Meanwhile Art Gallery and the Free Store.
