  • Traffic includes all road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles

Standards and requirements

Temporary traffic management must comply with the New Zealand Transport Agency Traffic Control Devices Manual Part 8: Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (NZTA COPTTM)

Temporary traffic management can only be carried out by warranted site traffic management supervisors (STMS) and traffic controllers trained by NZTA accredited trainers. A list of accredited trainers is supplied in the training section of the NZTA COPTTM. Email the NZTA COPTTM administrator for more details.

Temporary traffic management on Wellington City Council roads can only be approved by Wellington City Council or a site traffic management supervisor to whom we've delegated authority.
