Wellington On a Plate announces Burger Wellington Finalists

Finalists have been selected via public vote, with the overall winner to be decided by an independent judging panel this week.

This year there were more than 200 entries across the Wellington region, with 11,500 ratings received from burger-loving fans.

Visa Wellington On a Plate Festival Director, Sarah Meikle, says the new festival format has firmly placed the spotlight on Burger Wellington this year, and it has been fantastic to have venues buzzing with burger fans this August.

“It’s great to see the range in venue and price among our finalists, which really does go to show that for Burger Wellington fans, flavour is what really comes first!” she adds.

Finalists for Burger Wellington presented by Garage Project in alphabetical order:

● Ernesto's Cocina Cubana - Fritta Cubana - $26

● Field & Green - Reuben-esque - $32

● Foxglove Bar & Kitchen - Smashtastic Mr Fox - $18

● Kanama Kopi Kadai - Oo La La! - $25

● One80 Restaurant - Goan Chicken Ros Pau - $29

Some venues will be keeping their Burger Wellington entry on after the festival, and all finalists will keep their burgers on for now, with One80’s burger coming back later in the week.

Visa Wellington On a Plate Festival winners will be announced at an Awards event on Monday 4 September.
