Welly Walks: Week Four

#WellyWalks is back for summer! Every week, we’ll share the walk of the week so you can find out where to go and what treats you can find from local Wellington businesses. Check out where the first walk of the year will be.

See a book come to life on our special book walk!

This walk begins at the end of the Churchill Park Play area in Seatoun (Hector Street entrance), where a trip to the playground or beach can extend to a walk inspired by a very special pūrākau/myth about the creation of Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Enjoy te ara pukapuka (book walk/ pathway) and feel the wairua (spirit) of the ancient taniwha as you and your whānau (family) wind your way around the rugged Wellington coastline towards Oruaiti Pā, at Fort Dorset.

The book walk is by author Moira Wairama, and your treat of the week will be a copy of the book!

If you miss out on the walk, enjoy te ara pukapuka until Friday 17 February.

Now that you know where to go, keep an eye on Instagram or Facebook to unlock the secret code then head out to the trail above from 9am on Saturday 14 January. Unlock the treat box with the secret code to get your prize!
