Welly Walks: Week two

#WellyWalks is back for summer! Every week, we’ll share the walk of the week so you can find out where to go and what treats you can find from local Wellington businesses. Check out where the next walk will be.

This walk is one that not only gives you amazing views of the city and sea, but the chance to get up close to the Wrights Hill WWII military fortress and spot rare birds along the Zealandia Sanctuary Fence.

You guessed it – the walk of the week is the Lookout Loop Walk in Wrights Hill!

Begin your journey at the Middle Car Park on Wrights Hill Road. You’ll want to head up John’s track and take your first left to the Lookout Track.

Follow this track up the hill until you come to a T-intersection, where you turn right to get to the lookout and find the Wrights Hill gun emplacements.

We recommend bringing your furry friend along for the journey because the Welly Walks box will have some treats from Smack Bang – a Wellington store that sells designer cat and dog accessories that also doubles as a dog bakery.

Remember to keep your dog on their lead for the walk and pick up after them to keep it clean for all the other doggos to come! If you want to give them a run around, there is a dog exercise area for them to go to once they’ve secured their treats.

Now that you know where to go, keep an eye on Instagram or Facebook to unlock the secret code then head out to the trail above from 9am on Saturday 17 December. Unlock the treat box with the secret code to get your prize!
