Friday Five: Things to do this Labour weekend

This Monday 25 October is Labour Day which means a day off for most Wellingtonians. Check out these great ideas of things you can do during the long weekend.

1. Dive into Thorndon Pool  

Thorndon Pool reopens this Saturday 23 October, just in time for the long weekend.

Come along and take a dip in Wellington’s oldest pool.

2. Watch the Wellington Lions play - for free! 

The Wellington Lions are taking on Southland this Saturday 23 October at Porirua Park, and it’s free to watch! The weather is looking good so grab the whole whānau and enjoy some fresh air while you support your local team. 

Kick off is at 4.35pm. Find out more and get your free General Admission tickets from the Wellington Lions website.

3. Step back in time with Wellington Heritage Week  

Wellington Heritage Week is back for its fifth year with over 60 events, tours, exhibitions and activities showcasing the wide-ranging history of the region from Monday 25 to Sunday 31 October.  

Events and tours are booking out fast so check out the programme now on their website.

4. Explore beautiful local pottery at Ceramicus  

The Wellington Potters Association annual showcase is on now at New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts Gallery. Enjoy a diverse range of new pottery works by members from around the region.

5. Tip toe through the tulips  

The tulips are still blooming great at the Botanic Garden ki Paekākā. They only come once a year so don’t miss out on these incredible colourful displays.
