Friday Five: Making the most of Level 2

Wellington is back at Alert Level 2, which means businesses, venues and facilities are welcoming back people with open arms (metaphorically).

1. Love your local

There has never been a better time to support your local café, restaurant, bar, artisan cheesemaker or butcher!

With Wellington On a Plate back in session, head out and enjoy a #BurgerWelly or #CocktailWelly at one of the hundred participating venues.

Looking for your new favourite coffee spot? Check out the WellingtonNZ website for some great local options.

2. Mask up

Under the new Level 2 regulations, you must wear a face covering when visiting any business, public venue, on public transport and at health care facilities.

Check out the WellingtonNZ website for a great list of locally made reusable face masks – fashionable and sustainable!

Visit the Unite Against COVID-19 website for more information about when you need to wear a face covering.

3. Make a splash

Our swimming pools are now open, with the exception of the main pools at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre and Keith Spry Pools as maintenance work was delayed due to the lockdown.

When visiting, please remember to scan in and keep a two metre distance from others.

4. Hit the library

Our library branches are all open so pop in and get yourself some new reads! Our staff will help guide you through the spaces so you can browse safely.

Just remember to keep visits to under 30 minutes while we’re reducing numbers for social distancing.

5. Listen to your art

Public art galleries and museums are back! If you are looking for a cultural boost after the lockdown, why not check out the Surrealists Exhibition at Te Papa.

The City Gallery has also reopened its doors, so throw on your mask and go check out some incredible contemporary art.

Watch out each Friday for a fun list of five great activities to do, places to explore, or things to discover in our awesome city (depending on our Alert Level!).
