Friday Five: Things starting with ‘B’ for a bumper weekend

Plan yourself a busy, bustling, bumper weekend with our list of boredom busters - all starting with the letter B.

1. Brew up a storm at Beervana 

Aotearoa’s biggest and most popular beer festival is back for two thirst quenching days across four sessions at Sky Stadium, Friday 13 to Saturday 14 August.  

From fantastical brewery displays, to special festival brews, delicious Wellington food and art-meets circus entertainment, it's an immersive celebration of good beer.

2. Blow off some steam with BMX 

Get the blood pumping and go check out the BMX track in Ian Galloway Park. The 400m track is a great challenge for both beginners and elite riders and it’s free!

If you enjoy yourself, why not sign up to the Capital BMX Club and enjoy training and inter-club races every summer.

3. Take a big bite out of Burger Wellington 

Get the whānau, work team, or friends together and start planning your Burger Wellington bonanza! From Friday 13 August to Tuesday 31 August, businesses across the region will be serving delicious burgers with a Garage Project beer match. 

Whether you’re into beef, chicken, tofu or prefer something sweet, there’s a burger for everybody.

4. Be bemused at BATS Theatre

If you’d prefer a treat for your brain, why not head to BATS Theatre for a show!

From comedies about gay astronaughts to surreal improvisation, there’s always something fun and batty on at the Bane Austin Touring Society (who knew that was what it stood for!).

5. BBQ at Pukehuia Park 

The newly upgraded Pukehuia Park has a picnic and BBQ area that is ideal for a whānau lunch in the sun.
