Friday Five: Your Welly Anniversary weekend sorted

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the Wellington Anniversary long weekend. There’s sooooo much to do in our city. Here's our top five picks.

1. Welly Weekend

There will be a range of fun activities from Saturday 23 to Monday 25 January on the Wellington Waterfront, with Sky Show Fireworks on Sunday evening at 9.30pm and Whānau Fun Day from midday on Monday. Come along and have a very Welly Weekend.

2. Pasifika Festival

Warm Pacific greetings! Join us at Wellington Pasifika Festival this Saturday 23 January for a vibrant celebration of our Pacific communities. Experience the sights, sounds and flavours of the Pacific right here in Pōneke. Featuring food, live music and performances, crafts, art, culture and much more.

3. Welly Walks 

Take a look at our list of the Top 20 Welly Walks offering unbeatable views. Most are only minutes from the city centre. Whatever your mood, there's a walk for you this weekend!

4. Cricket at the Basin 

It's a massive weekend of Dream11 Super Smash action at the Basin Reserve this weekend. Show your support for women's sport and catch Wellington Blaze v Otago Sparks on Sunday 24 January, and Wellington Blaze v Canterbury Magicians on Monday 25 January. 5. Gardens Magic 

Catch our free summer concert series from 8-9.30pm each night at Wellington’s Botanic Garden Soundshell. Experience the best brass band in the land with the Wellington Brass Band tonight (Friday 22 January), lay back on your picnic blanket and enjoy a night of soaring opera under the stars with New Zealand Opera on Saturday 23 January, and get a dose of psychedelic rock 'n' roll that's good for your soul with FRED, a dance floor experience like no other on Sunday 24 January.
